MAMA’S STILL DEAD

Synopsis:

Some women call their mothers in a crisis. Lily Corcoran calls hers from the dead.
Forty years old, separated, drowning in an unfinished neuroscience PhD, and raising a freaked-out ten-year-old whose father treats their custody schedule like a loose suggestion—Lilyโs life is in spectacular collapse. Her survival strategy: overwork, Snickers, and boxed cabernet that isnโt going to drink itself.
When Mama materializes, Lilyโs first thought isnโt miracle. Itโs brain tumor. But Mama is absolutely, inconveniently real. Lily introduces her as long-lost Cousin Trish and wildly hopes for the best. Mama folds laundry. She bakes lasagna. She has opinions. And shoulder pads.
Heartbreak and hilarity ensue: a ghost mother with catastrophic romantic strategies from 1989, a daughter white-knuckling through separation, a dissertation committee member who should be reported to HR, and a little girl who takes to her dead grandmother like a magnet to a fridge.
Underneath the chaos is a daughter who lost her mother too young and has never stopped needing her. And a secret about Mamaโs death that no oneโs been brave enough to tell.
MAMA’S STILL DEAD is a witty, fierce, and unexpectedly moving novel about the mothers we lose, the messes we make, and the stubborn, glorious work of becoming the woman we want to be.
Praise for MAMA’S STILL DEAD:
“Compelling reminder that love is greater than life’s messes.”
~ BookLife Review, Editor’s Pick!
“Mama may be dead, yet her presence gives the household a mischievous form of continuity, where love still speaks loudly enough to rearrange the living. Readers who enjoy paranormal fiction rooted in family will love this.”
~ Readers’ Favorite, 5-Star Review
“Keller’s writing is bright and witty, and the speculative details of the haunting are entertaining. The novel’s greatest success, however, comes from its depiction of the tender relationship between a daughter and the mother she lost too soon. A charming novel about grief, forgiveness, and the power of maternal love.”
~ Kirkus Reviews
“An original and deftly crafted blending of fantasy, romance, parenting and divorce, MAMA’S STILL DEAD is a wickedly funny and inherently compelling read from start to finish.”
~ Midwest Book Review
“MAMA’S STILL DEAD uses humor to illuminate the seriousness of being human. One minute you’re smiling at a ghost in shoulder pads and then suddenly you’re undone by a woman who never learned how to be okay because she lost her mother too soon. Funny, sad, and completely different in the best of ways.”
~ Ann Garvin, USA Today bestselling author of TELL TWO FRIENDS
